Troubadours à la Hurdy Gurdy!
If you love all things medieval then the annual Bayeux Medieval Festival is definitely a date for your diary.
The event usually takes place over the first weekend in July, but 2016 marks the 30th anniversary, so will last the entire week from the 26th June to the 3rd July 2016. It effectively occupies the entire centre of this lovely historic town.
With the beautiful Romanesque cathedral as a central backdrop, you”ll discover hundreds of brightly coloured stalls selling everything from delicious local delicacies to exquisite crafts. Similarly, all the bars and cafés spill out onto the ancient narrow streets, with roving (occasionally bizarre) troubadours to entertain you as you enjoy food and drink with a distinctly medieval theme.
First class musical & dramatic entertainment can also be found on the central stage, together with demonstrations of ancient crafts that you can also try your hand at.jousting! Medieval battles are all part of the fun in the nearby park, and just about everyone in the town dresses up for the occasion!
Best of all, there”s no entry charge whatsoever! Bayeux is approximately 30 minutes drive from La Ducrie, and if enough guests are interested in going, we can probably arrange a drop off and pick up, as parking close to the town centre can be at a premium over the entire weekend.
